How To Prune Eggplant? High Yield

Jul 26, 2022

If you want to increase the output of eggplant, you can take the pruning method of single stem pruning. When the eggplant forks, keep the strong branches and trim the weak branches. Only one fruit bearing branch is reserved in the whole growth stage of eggplant, so that nutrients can be supplied in a centralized manner, thus improving the yield of eggplant.

Eggplant can also be pruned by double pruning. However, when the eggplant is forked for the first time, two branches will be kept to grow at the same time, and only one branch will be kept in the future. The branches that grow too sparsely will be pruned. In this way, two bearing branches can be retained, and the yield of eggplant can be greatly increased.

Eggplant can also be pruned by three pole pruning. When the eggplant is in the first flower, the two side branches below the flower are kept, so that the main branch and the two side branches can bear fruit at the same time. After the eggplant bears fruit, the first or second branch under the fruit can be retained as the bearing branch, and only one side branch can be retained as the bearing branch in the future, so as to improve the yield of eggplant.

Attention: after the eggplant is pruned, the pruned side branches shall be destroyed in time to avoid affecting the normal growth of eggplant. During pruning, yellow and withered leaves can also be removed to reduce unnecessary nutrient consumption. After pruning, fertilizer should be applied to the eggplant in time to make the eggplant grow again as soon as possible.
